Eng. Abdullah Al-Shamrani has been serving as the CEO of the Saudi Geological Survey since December 2020. He is also a board member of the Saudi Geological Survey, the General Authority for Survey and Geospatial Information, and the Tourism Development Council. Prior to this role, he dedicated over thirty-three years to SABIC as a chemical engineer. His career at SABIC began in manufacturing sites, where he progressed through various leadership positions. Mr. Al-Shamrani held the presidency of Al-Jubail United Petrochemical Company (United) and Al-Jubail Fertilizers Company (AlBayroni) for three years each. Additionally, he served as the Operations General Manager for the Saudi Arabian Chemical Fertilizer Company (SAFCO) and the National Chemical Fertilizers Company (Ibn AlBaytar) for four years. He was also a board member of the National Chemical Fertilizers Company (Ibn Baytar) and the Saudi Arabian Mining Company (Maaden Phosphate). Mr. Al-Shamrani led several marketing committees within SABIC for various petrochemical products and was responsible for organizing SABIC conferences both locally and globally. In 2019, he successfully oversaw the merger of two major SABIC petrochemical companies, PETROKEMYA and SADAF, resulting in the creation of PETROKEA, the world's largest petrochemical complex. He also served on the Board of Directors for a non-profit organization based in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
