Dr. Wang Hongliang is a Research Fellow in the field of geology and mineral resources, currently serving as Deputy Director General of the Xi'an Geological Survey Center, China Geological Survey (CGS), and concurrently holding the positions of Deputy Director of the China-SCO Geoscience Research Center, Director of the Helium Resources Research Center of CGS, and member of the National Land and Resources Industry Guidance Committee. He previously served as Deputy Director General of the Zhengzhou Institute of Comprehensive Utilization of Mineral Resources. His research expertise spans regional integrated geological surveys, mineral resource development and comprehensive utilization management, and international geoscientific cooperation. With a focus on Northwest China, his investigations delve into the genesis of rocks and minerals, paleoenvironmental changes throughout geological history, and the formation mechanisms of mineral deposits. He is currently responsible for cooperation in earth sciences and mining development with geological survey and mining administration departments of countries in the Central Asia and Western Asia regions. As the project leader, he has spearheaded over 10 national and provincial/ministerial-level research projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC). His academic contributions include the publication of over 90 research papers and 15 monographs and geological atlases. His research achievements have been honored with the First Prize for Outstanding Map Sheets in the National Regional Geological Survey (recognizing exceptional contributions to cartography), the Second Prize for Science and Technology Award from the Ministry of Land and Resources, as well as the Special Prize and Third Prize for accomplishments in Xinjiang’s ‘358 Project’.
